This page is for the cancelled 1987 feature film and not for the 1999 VHS of the same name containing episodes from the TV series.
Teddy Ruxpin: The Movie is the cancelled film adaptation of The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin. Beginning in 1987, an extended outline of the film was produced alongside a Leica reel and several concept drawings before ultimately being cancelled due to World of Wonder's financial troubles.
History[]
The film was to be a 2D/3D hybrid: characters would be traditionally animated on cels while the backgrounds and environments would be digitally animated, an ambitious concept for the time. While concept art depicts several scenes, the only sequence that was actually animated is a short (about two minutes in length) confrontation between Quellor and Teddy Ruxpin.
A major plot point of the film follows Teddy, Grubby, and Newton Gimmick finding a long-lost colony of Illiops. While initially frightened, the Illiops welcome them in. An Illiop historian named Ilana takes a particular liking to Teddy due to their shared love of history and lore.

Trivia[]
- While the art style is noticeably different than either the animated series or the Adventure Series, Quellor's color scheme is completely different (e.g. red instead of beige robes).
- Because the script was written during the process of creating the animated series, there are some inconsistencies. The name Ilana was later given to Teddy Ruxpin's mother, and the character herself can be seen as a sort of predecessor to Amber.
