Grubby's Romance is the 7th episode of The Adventures of Teddy Ruxpin.
Plot summary[]
Gimmick with his portable reducing machine.
The episode begins with both Teddy and Grubby putting bags inside the lower half of the Airship. When they get back up, they suddenly see a giant flower. Gimmick reveals himself with his invention, the portable version of the reducing machine. It uses on of the crystals they all found in the Hard to Find City. Teddy, Grubby, and Gimmick then get ready to go on the Airship.

The scene arrives to Tweeg’s Tower, as Tweeg receives his mail. Tweeg is excited, as he thinks he got his allowance check from his mother. Turns out, the letter from his mom is not an allowance check, but an ad for M.A.V.O., the Monsters and Villains Organization. Along with the ad is a written letter from his mom, which explains that Tweeg needs to enter the organization to get his allowance back. Tweeg and L.B. are devastated, until they find out from the flier that for that week only, ‘fairly nasty’ deeds are accepted. Tweeg decides that he is going to do something to Gimmick to get into M.A.V.O.
Tweeg sends L.B. to do something about them on their airship. When he arrives there, L.B. finds the portable reducing machine and presses the red button on it, making the airship along with Teddy, Grubby, and Gimmick small. They were so small in fact, L.B. thought he made them disappear. Tweeg is happy with L.B.’s actions, as this will allow him to potentially get him into M.A.V.O.
The Airship being shrunken down is difficult to deal with for Teddy, Grubby, and Gimmick. The strong winds make the Airship break free from its rope restraints, making it fly all the way to a party, the annual spring dance. They all decide to wait for a way back and go to the party.
At the huge party, Grubby meets Karen, a caterpillar that he instantly falls in love with. An abridged version of the song “Looking Back at Me” plays with visuals of Grubby and Karen together. Grubby snaps out of it when Karen strikes a conversation with him. They both get along very well, forming a connection immediately as they dance at the party.
Meanwhile, L.B. Is at Gimmick’s house seeing if he could find something valuable. Unfortunately, he the crystals that Teddy, Grubby, and Gimmick found, with the last one that they didn’t take on the portable reducing machine. L.B. returns to Tweeg’s Tower with the crystals. Tweeg takes them from him, planning to go to his mother’s house to show her the crystals.
During the night, Grubby and Karen enjoy the night together, talking about how glad they are because of the circumstances they got to meet in. At this point in time, Grubby, Teddy and Gimmick have been here for the past two days.

When the morning arrives however, Grubby discovers that something is happening to Karen, and alerts the others. Karen is making a cocoon, she doesn’t know why she is doing this, she just knows she has to. When she finally makes her cocoon, Teddy, and Gimmick go off to see if they could find out an explanation of why Karen did what she did, while Grubby stays by her side.
Days pass and Grubby has been sitting next to Karen nonstop. However, Teddy and Gimmick soon find out that Karen is on her way to turn into a butterfly, because of the fact that she is a caterpillar. The both of them run off to Grubby to tell him the news. Grubby already found out, as Karen is out of her cocoon and transformed. As they all stood there in admiration, the butterflies were approaching. Karen practices flying with them, getting used to her new wings. Karen had no idea that she was going to become a butterfly, but because she is one now, she could help Grubby and the others get back home.
The Airship got ready for takeoff, with the three controlling it while following the butterflies that knew the way back. Along the way, they narrowly avoid an encounter with Tweeg. When they arrived back, they still had one problem, they were still small. Karen helps them out, pressing the Green button on the reducing machine, making them big again. Karen and Grubby bid their farewells, leaving Grubby heartbroken.

When the three return to Gimmick’s house, they discover that it has been destroyed and that their crystals were stolen. They all knew who was responsible; Tweeg.
